Well today my youngest brother turns 39 years old.  Because we are 11 years apart, we are not terribly close, but every year I call him on his birthday and sing "Happy Birthday" to him.  This year was extra special because we are so far away.  He has such a tender heart and I am so blessed to have him in my life.  I was telling Gary, one year when he was in high school, he would not leave the house in the morning because I had not called and sang.  Well my mother kept telling him Patrick, you have to go to school, Ruth Ann will call later and sing, but he would not budge.  So my mom called me on the "down low" and the call was made!!!

Well today started out like any other day.  It got hot fast and Gary was outside digging tree stumps out of the front yard at the barn in preparation for building the deck on the side of the barn.  He came in about 3pm and said he was going to suit up and head over to the Fergusons to ride with the gang.  I had work to do in my financial business so I decided not to go and off he went.  Now Gary never road without full gear, chest plate, shin guards, helmet, etc.  He has always been cautious even though he is a bit daring.  Well today of all days his daring god him into trouble.  While jumping what he thought was a single, it ended up being a double, he did an endo, went over the front of the bike landing on his head and broke his neck.  I got the call from Aimee that told me there had been an accident, but I never expected this.  It got there when the paramedics did and we all headed to MedCentral in Mansfield, OH.  Very quickly it was determined that this was serious because once Gary woke up he could not move anything but his head.  They life flighted him to OSU in Columbus and there we spent the next 116 days and so it began, my husband was now a quadriplegic and my/our life would NEVER be the same.
